RADIO FREE EUROPE
Prague HQ Studios, 2025
work completed for Clickspring Design
Radio Free Europe’s Prague headquarters studios are intended to accommodate various programs throughout the week and, importantly, must remain accessible to both large- and small-scale production teams. The common thread among these users, and at the heart of RFE, is the drive to quickly relay clear, up-to-date information and reporting to its viewers.
Our design arranges LED video displays, color-shifting lightboxes, and light-washed perimeter walls as three distinct layers which combine to form a rich, toned message. The message is set within a set of scenic frames and, using a metaphor that nods to the brand’s radio past, is delivered by the speakers — hosts at the anchor table or interview platform.
As much of RFE’s segments rely on in-field reporting, the set also provides multiple configurations for interacting with remote journalists.
The main studio’s scalability lies in the capacity to activate fully for a large production while either half of the set or single video elements could be shot independently for smaller teams.
Nearby, a secondary studio extends the main studio’s design language but features a single LED array and even a presenter’s position without video technology for teams with minimal pre-production time or resources.
